Perform a variety of legal activities in accordance with the established standards of the legal profession to protect the organization’s reputation and business interests and ensure it complies with all relevant laws and regulations.
・Provide general legal advice and counsel to commercial and operational business units in Japan to ensure that their current or proposed activities, policies, business practices, and transactions comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
・Handle all corporate governance matters concerning the organization in Japan and act as its corporate secretary.
・ Analyze and make recommendations to commercial and operational business units on how to respond to legal issues or proposed changes in laws and regulations.
・Draft, review and advise legal contracts, letters of agreement, and other documents related to a variety of trade, commercial, financial, and operational matters (for example loans, leases, purchase agreements, acquisitions, divestitures, employment contracts) to protect the organization’s legal and business interests.
・Ensure legal documentations are updated & completed to protect the company assets & interests.
・Liaise with regional and global legal group(s), as applicable, in support of local business units in Japan. Implement global and regional legal policies and SOPs.
・Manage external counsel as necessary in representing the organization in legal proceedings before courts, government agencies, or other authorities so that the organization’s interests are protected.
・Ensure that all activities related to the job area are in compliant with EHS.
・Provide regional APAC support as needed on commercial matters.
・Bachelor’s Law degree and Bar Admission in Japan (Bengoshi) is required.
・5 -7 years of experience in legal activities. Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills.
・A track record of being effective in a multinational company and has global mind-set and cultural flexibility.
・Proven ability to effectively build lasting relationships by demonstrating strong interpersonal and influencing skills throughout all levels of the organization.
・Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
・Leader, eager and business savvy.
